I went from a baby in diapers
To a kid wearing glasses
To a teenager, who done well in all my classes
I may not be the most popular teen in the hood, or in school
I may not be that teen, who wears a gangsta bandana on my head
I may not even be that teen, who gets the most girls in bed
I may not that be that teen, who walks with a smooth strut
I may not be that teen, who wears his pants down to my butt
I may not, also, be that teen, who is cool
But, at least I'm in school
And, I'm nobody's fool
As I prepare to journey to college, I realize I'm on my way to the road of adulthood
On that road, I am determine to complete my higher education and I will not let anything!
I do mean, anything! Stand in my way
The values my parents taught me will never stray
If the journey along the road gets bumpy from time-to-time, I'll turn to the Lord and pray
After I complete college, my dream is to become a doctor
Through the Spirit of God, I want to save as many lives as I can
Especially, the lives of my people
I want to become somebody important, in order to take care of myself, my family, and help take care of my parents, who raises and takes care of me day after day
I could never fully repay them for all the love they have given me
For the shelter, clothes, and food they provide daily
When I fulfill my dream in life, I can, then, be the most popular person in my community
Instead of wearing a gangsta bandana on my head or my pants down to my butt, I can wear the finest suit around with a Godfather hat tilted to the side
Cruising the streets chillin' in my brand new ride
Instead of sleeping with fast women for a cheap thrill
I'll be married to a beautiful Queen and we'll start a family
We will dwell in a new home up on the hill
After I obtain my degrees from school
I'll then be cool
And, I still won't be nobody's fool
