Hello Washington: A Letter to the Government

Hello Washington,

How are you?

Me, I'm blessed.  However, I am concerned about the amount of taxes we working people are paying.

I do not mind paying taxes for our policemen, schoolteachers, EMT workers, firemen, the military,

and other necessities our tax dallars pay for.  But, I do mind paying taxes on entities that do not

benefit us.

Each year, you take and take more money from us.  How long can we last if you keep taking?  You

have enough money to give each citizen, at least fifty thousand dollars or more a piece.  Recently,

you gave most of us some stimulus money during COVID-19, which I really appreciate.  However,

you could have given us more money, due to a lot of small businesses are still hurting.  Small

businesses can definitely use a bail out, like you did with big corporations.  There are also people,

who haven't receievd a dime, since they were laid off, due to the Pandemic.

Don't get me wrong, I am proud to be an American!  Especially, since my African Ancestors help

built this Country with their sweat and blood to help make America what it is today.  I am proud to

be a working citizen of my Country.  I know we live better than most countries on this planet!  But, it

seems like you're making it harder for us working people to survive.

Whenever we receive a pay raise, it's eaten up by the high cost of inflation.  Some of us have to work

two or more job, just to stay above water.  No one should have to work two or more jobs, unless they

want to.

The high taxes we pay, do not affect the poor because we support them.  It also do not affect the rich

because they get the most tax breaks.  Remember, the rich can not run this Country alone.  There are

more poor people in this Country, than they are rich. Without us working people, this Country can

not or shall not survive!  We are the Production, the thriving force that Keeps America going.

I am a laborer and I work hard!  I've been working and paying taxes, since I was fifteen years old.  I

thank God Almighty that I have a job.  All we're asking for is a tax break, so we can live the

American dream, just a little bit more comfortably.

Thank you so much for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Clark Clyburn
