January 20, 2009: A Good Day

Each time we are able to awake
is an absolute blessing from God Almighty, which is no mistake

Regardless, to what anybody had to say

Whether you were in Washington, D.C., at home, school, work, in different parts of the world, or just simply hanging out around the way

January 20, 2009, was truly a blessed and good day!

History in the United States of America was made

Everyone from all Races and Nationalities united together to take part in the biggest parade

On that day, there was so much love all around

Satan himself was silenced

For there was not once ounce of violence

For us African-Americans, there have been years of annoy

But on that day, there were tears of joy

Although we as African-Americans have come a mighty, mighty long ways

There are some things within our community we need to employ

We must employ our children to worship and praise the Lord God!

We as African-American fathers must employ time with our children because every son needs their father

I'm not saying daughters don't need their fathers because they do

However, in my opinion, boys need their dad, even more

Speaking of boys, we must employ time within our communities to stop young Black men from going to prison

For the Criminal Justice System makes BILLIONS of dollars per year, just to keep our young Black men locked up, which is their plan and their vision

We must employ time within our communities to stop the violence amongst one another

We must employ time to give back to our sisters and brothers

We must employ time to love each other

January 20, 2009, was not only a day for Black people to rejoice
It was a day, where Black people, White people, Jewish people, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, Christians, Muslims, and all other Nationalities and Religions came together as one

Everyone embraced each other and had good clean fun

People from all parts of the country was there, which is rare

You never seen so much excitement in the air

It only showed that people are ready for a change and that America does care

Today, we live in a time of turmoil

But, on that day!

Not only was I proud to be an American, but I was glad to be in the U.S. of A!

If only the slave owners and our founding Fathers of this great Nation could've lived to see that particular era of an African-American President being sworn in, I would've loved to have seen their reaction!

I know if our fallen Ancestors, who were slaves and helped built this country with their sweat and blood, could've lived to see that day, they would've been dancing and praising God Almighty with great satisfaction!!

If the fallen Civil Rights Activists, like Medgar Evers, Rosa Parks, W.E.B. Du Bois, and other leaders, like Malcom X had of been alive, they would've been happy to see this country moving forward slowly but surely at a positive pace

If my father would've been alive, I would've loved to have seen his happy face

However, I am glad my mother got to live to see that day

How America sworn in a President that's within our Race

Just think!!

We as African-Americans were slaves in this country

We were not considered a human being!  But, a slave, a piece of property!!

A dog had more rights than we did in this country

Then later on, we went from being a slave, from being a piece of property, to being "three-fifths" of a person

Imagine only being considered "three-fifths" of a person!!

Then, we went on to struggle through the "Jim Crow" and the "Civil Rights" era

Afterwards, drugs were put into our communities, which destroyed a lot of Black families and lives

Crack Cocaine and AIDS were also put into our communities, which destroyed a lot of Black families and lives as well

Within the last 30 years or so, more and more of our young Black men, as I have stated before, have filled our prisons throughout this country

Black people have gone through so much chaos and destruction, it feels like we have been to hell and back!!

Now, look!

We have our first African-American President in the White House!  The White House!

No longer an Illinois resident

Barack Obama is now America's first Black President!

I thank the Lord for watching over the Obama's and may He, continue to be with them throughout this Presidential term

For I know Michelle Obama will add style, beauty, flavor, and color to the White House

I thank God for the change that is already here today

For I know the progress to fixing our economy will be a long one, but I thank the Lord for the positive change that are on the way

If Martin Luther King, Jr., Coretta Scott King, and their daughter Yolanda King, had of been alive, I know they would've held hands together and had a blast!
They would've shouted, 'Free at last!'  'Free at last!'  'Thank God Almighty we are free at last!!'

I thank God Almighty for God!!  May He, continue to bless America!!
